Dixon Academy Meck Pre - K Ages 4 - 5 Years
MECK Pre-K is a free, high-quality pre-kindergarten program for eligible four-year-old children in Mecklenburg County.

Dixon Academy's MECK Pre-K classrooms, are taught by licensed teachers and teacher assistants.
MECK Pre-K is administered by Smart Start of Mecklenburg County and funded by Mecklenburg County.

The hours for the MECK Pre K program are 8:00 am – 2:30 pm. Dixon Academy provides transportation for families (within a 5 mile radius) and also wrap around care for before and after MECK Pre K hours. Dixon Academy hours are 6:30 am- 6:00 pm.
FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
Families are essential partners in preparing children for kindergarten success. In our Meck Pre-K Program, Dixon Academy hosts Parent-Teacher Conferences twice each year to discuss each child’s progress and learning experiences.
During conferences, teachers share information about developmental milestones, academic progress, and social growth. These conversations allow families and educators to work together to ensure children receive the support they need to thrive.
Families are also invited to participate in our Annual Open House, an opportunity to meet staff, learn more about our programs, and celebrate the accomplishments of our scholars.

Our Meck Pre-K Program focuses on helping children develop strong academic foundations, social confidence, and independence. Through intentional instruction and engaging classroom experiences, children strengthen the skills they need to enter kindergarten prepared and excited to learn.
